Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
My methodology is based in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which is a form of talk therapy that helps you identify and change negative thought patterns. CBT states that our "thoughts lead to our actions" so addressing irrational, inappropriate, negative and/or unhealthy thoughts is crucial to changing the way you ultimately behave. CBT has been proven to be effective in treating a range of issues including anxiety, depression and most things we tend to view as "adulting."
I believe in a client-centered approach to therapy with a Reality Therapy delivery style. I like the descriptive term of 'eclectic' to explain my overall style because it is a mixture and it depends on what is needed by the client and what they are most responsive to in therapeutic interventions. I am fully committed to providing a safe and non-judgmental environment where you can openly express your thoughts and feelings. I firmly believe in being culturally sound, sensitive and affirming in the help I provide.
